Dear all we owe a thanks to Beatrice and Geoff Cranwell, not only for the photos of the pines but for the tender loving care over the years, photos of the pine tree in 2008 as well as the Plaque for the US Army Air Force.
Photos of the RAAF plaque for 100 Squadron also one of the trees when it was smaller as well as one of the trees in 2009.

No 100 Squadron RAAF (Beauforts) based at Mareeba Airfield 22/5/1942 until
30/7/1942.
No 5 Squadron RAAF (Wirraways and Boomerangs) based at Mareeba Airfield
3/6/1943 until 10/11/1944, Plaque unveiled - 15/8/2004
United States Army Air Force 19th and 43rd Heavy Bombardment Group (B17 Fortress and B24 Liberator Aircraft) 8th Fighter Group (P38 Lightnings Conversion from P39 Airacobra) Base Mareeba (Hoevet Field) during the period 1942 to 1943 Plaque unveiled 17/8/2008.
Planted two pine trees with lineage to Lone Pine at Gallipoli 12/08/2007 Cairns Branch Members have attended VP Day Celebrations at Rocky Creek War Memorial Park each year since 2004, and will continue to do so. Photos and short story by Beatrice and Geoff Cranwell.
